2024 has been an eventful year. Severe weather events devastate many communities. Covid-19 is endemic. Wars continue. This is my 2024 year end review. I’ll review the most important things I learned small business-wise, my best/most useful sewing tips/skills and my favorite projects of 2024. I’ll also give you a heads up on my plans for the new year.
Small Business
Creating content for Patreon has been more time consuming than I expected. My Patreon posts are much shorter then what I post here on my blog, but they still require careful planning. I wasn’t able to get ahead with blogging to avoid gaps in my blogging schedule when I was on vacation. I added a new type of content to my blog to help with this; roundups. I’ve seen similar content on other bloggers sites and I’m hoping to make additional use of it in the future. The Canada Post strike is impacting everyone. Other shipping methods aren’t feasible for me at this time.
Sewing Skills/Tips/Tutorials
I wrote some more posts aimed at beginning sewers in 2024. Hopefully, you found my posts about sewing fabric circles and yoga mat bags helpful. Being able to sew curves is helpful for a variety of projects.
I wrote one sewing tutorials in 2024; Make Your T-shirt Bigger. I really enjoyed altering t-shirts that were a bit small so that they’d fit better. In fact, I found a few more I’d like to alter.
The most important thing I learned in 2024 is the importance of taking care of one’s self. No one else can do this for you. Neglecting yourself now costs you more time and energy later when small issues become big ones.
Favorite Projects
I use my dogbone neck pillow nearly every week, so it’s at the top of my list for favourite sewing projects of the year.
Planning Ahead
I will be raising prices in my Etsy shop at the beginning of 2025. Shipping will be more expensive regardless of whether or not I’m using Canada Post. I have some large sewing projects that I’d like to review in 2025. Doing so means I need to get ahead with blogging by sewing smaller projects for reviews, and writing roundups and other posts that don’t require me to sew.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2025!
