About Me

Tanya of Sewn By Tanya

Welcome to my blog. I’m Tanya and a I have a bag making company in Western Canada. Writing, sewing, and photography are some of my passions and this blog is the place where they come together.

I “crafted” my first bag from a quilting kit at the age of 8 years old. Over the years my sewing projects and skills evolved as my interests changed. I’ve honed my craft with projects like dolls and soft-bodied toys, zippered pouches, makeup bags and brush rolls, locker caddies, binder covers, clothing, various bags and purses, 30 L and 60+ L backpacking packs, backpacking tents and tarps, sleeping bags, travel cubes and lunch bags. Now in my 40s and looking for a way to earn additional income, I’ve started sewing bags, purses and accessories part-time.

In addition to this blog, I have a website, you can find me on Pinterest, and shop in my Etsy Store.

All the items in my Etsy shop were sewn by me. Either I designed the patterns or have a non-commercial license that allows me to sell what I personally sew. Other patterns I sew and review in this blog are for personal use only. That means you won’t find them in my Etsy shop, but you can sew your own just as I have done.

My blog has 3 main topics: pattern reviews, sewing tips, and small business tips. I aim to post here twice a month.
