Three Bags Using Fabric Circles

Most bags require rectangular pieces of fabric. Don’t have rectangular fabric? Want to practice sewing circles or curves? This is a three bags using fabric circles review.

Introduction

I regularly look for new and interesting sewing projects to share with you. When I found a project that uses circular pieces of fabric, I searched the internet for more. In this post, I’ll review three bag sewing projects that use circular pieces of fabric. I used to same fabrics for these projects to better illustrate their different styles.

Two Fabric Circles Gift Bag by HelloSewing

2 Fabric Circles Gift – Stunning Gift YOU Can Sew

The Fabric Two Circles Gift by HelloSewing is a lined gift bag approximately 19 cm wide by 12 cm tall by 3 cm deep (7.5” wide by 4.7” tall by 1.2” deep). Recommended materials are 4, 25 cm diameter (10” diameter) circles of quilting weight cotton, 1 piece of interfacing, and 2 strips of quilting weight cotton for the handles. This gift bag can be scaled up by using larger circles.

I love that this bag stands up by itself when it’s empty. This project was so quick and easy that I can imagine making several matching for special events. Easter, Halloween, Christmas and birthday parties come to mind.

Cute Tote Bag From Circular Fabric By Ae PooiM

The Cute Tote Bag From Circular Fabric by Ae PooiM is a lined tote bag approximately 25 cm wide by 25 cm tall (12” wide by 12” tall). It has 2 front, exterior pockets and 3 interior pockets. Recommended materials are 4, 54 cm diameter (20.4” diameter) circles of quilting weight cotton or linen, and 2 strips of webbing for the handles. I interfaced my fabric for a sturdier bag and used 12 cm wide strips of fabric folded and pressed instead of webbing.

I followed the instructions. The written video tutorial was fairly easy to follow. I make a mistake stacking my pieces that resulted in the wrong panel being on the outside of my toe bag. It was easy to correct this and you can avoid it by lining up your pieces more carefully than I did. Here are some photos of my Cute Tote Bag From Circular Fabric.

The circular pattern on the front of this tote bag looks amazing. Pockets make this tote bag more useful. It would be a great bag for library looks and other flat items. I enjoyed sewing it and think it would make a great gift.

Easy and Simple Bag without Interfacing by Tendersmile Handmade

The Easy and Simple Eco Bag Without Interfacing by Tendersmile Handmade is a lined tote bag or shoulder bag approximately 24 cm wide by 21 cm tall by 2 cm deep (9.4” wide by 8.3” tall by 0.2” deep). It has two interior pockets. Recommended materials are 2, 46 cm diameter (18.1” diameter) circles of quilting weight cotton, and 4 strips of quilting weight cotton for the handles. I interfaced my fabrics for a sturdier bag.

Materials for Easy and Simple Eco Bag

I followed the instructions. The video tutorial was easy to follow and this bag came together quickly. “Easy and Simple” is an apt description for this beginner friendly bag. Here’s a photo of my Easy and Simple Eco Bag.

This bag reminds me of tulips; I love it. Its boxed corners and longer straps make it versatile for carrying a variety of items.

Conclusion

Gift bags, tote bags and shoulder bags all make great gifts. Cutting fabric circles instead of rectangles creates the beautiful curves in these projects.These three beginner friendly bags look amazing and are gift worthy. They’re also a good opportunity to practice sewing curves.
